The property used to be 2 tied cottages attached to the surrounding farm land. It was completely renovated and converted into one property in the 1970s, and is slowly being renovated further. In 2017 we replaced the old well water system with a borehole and added a UV filtration system with a new header storage tank. In 2018 we replaced the electrics, which included adding an induction hob and new cooker. Both the bathroom and shower room have now been renovated.
Feel free to camp out on the lawn, have a BBQ and a fire and wait for the stars to pop out.
There are great walks, close-by fishing lakes, vineyards, and the Town of Ledbury and the City of Hereford. The location is quiet (though, this is the countryside, so expect sheep coughing and cows mooing!), ambient and beautiful, with outdoor BBQ area, large lawn and open space and a private drive. The house and grounds are suitable for couples and families (with kids).

Please note that this property has it's own borehole and the water is non-chlorinated. Water is cleaned using UV filtration and stored in a cold water header tank. The water is tested annually and meets DEFRA's legal requirements for a private potable water source. However, if you feel uncomfortable drinking non-chlorinated water, then we recommend to our guests that you bring your own bottled water.
Following a recent change in water testing by the DWI (Drinking Water Inspectorate), a new drinking water tap has been installed in the kitchen that is filtered through a RO (reverse osmosis) filter. This should be the only water consumed by guests (for both drinking and cooking). Water from the rest of the household taps should only be used for bathing and cleaning (the taps are labelled).
Sewage is via a soak away, so please respect our environment and only use the products provided for cleaning (which are septic tank safe) and make sure to only flush toilet paper down the loo. We only use recycled loo paper (from Serious Tissues - every roll used = 1 tree planted).
Electricity is provided through Bulb energy, a 100% renewable energy supplier (from solar, wind and hydro).
Use of the woodburner is at your own risk. It meets building control and HETAS standards and carbon monoxide and smoke alarms are installed in the property. Instructions are provided and we do (where possible) supply wood and coal to burn. We provide an honour box for wood and coal usage. We recommend using the fire guard when small children are present.
The kitchen hob is an induction hob. This means you can only use a certain type of pan (there is a well equipped set provided). The user manual is on the extractor. Generally set to 5-6 for a gentle fry, 7-8 for a bit more and 9-P for boiling.
Use of the outdoor firepit is also at your own risk. Please do not burn wet wood and do not use the firepit under the gazebo (if present).
The area is classic Hereford countryside. The cottage is surrounded by farmland that is sometimes home to grazing sheep and cattle. There is also a beautiful old apple orchard behind the cottage. There is a coarse fishing lake a short walk from the cottage and various farm shops where local produce can be purchased.
There is a bus service (476) that runs from Ledbury to Hereford on the main road (A438), which is just over 1 km from the house. Taxis are expensive, but unfortunately, sometimes a necessity. Expect to pay around £20 from Hereford in the evening.
